Coach Dennis Knaust
2017 World Masters ibjjf champion
My name is Dennis Knaust. Having always been inspired by grappling I decided to try it at the age of 38. I was instantly hooked! I had no idea at the time that it would change my life completely in every facet. Jiu-Jitsu brought to me more than I ever dreamed of. Having also been a coach for a number of years now I have also witnessed how it changes others as well. Fitness, health, problem solving and confidence are just a few of the many benefits I have seen first hand and/or been a part of with others on their journey. I started in August of 2012 and had no idea that 6 years later I would be just as immersed in Jiu-Jitsu now as when I started. As a coach I love watching the growth and confidence of students young and old.
As a practitioner of Jiu-Jitsu I never had a desire or thought of competing in the sport side of it in tournaments until I did my first one. I saw and learned what it takes and too what extent I could push myself. It again forever changed me. I have won gold at multiple events not only in Missouri but other states as well with the pinnacle being winning gold at the 2017 IBJJF world Masters in the purple belt division. I am currently a Brown belt and still enjoying every second of this journey. I have met and made friends through Jiu-Jitsu that I would have never known was it not for me deciding to try a class.
Outside of Jiu-Jitsu I enjoy fishing and arrowhead hunting as well as hiking and spending time with family.
