My name is Vivian Barrett. I am 21 years old, and I have been doing martial arts
since I was 7 years old. The first place that I trained was a mixed martials arts academy,
and I remember jiu jitsu always being my favorite. When I was 12 years old, I joined
Gracie Barra, I and have been focused on jiu jitsu ever since. I started competing in
tournaments when I was 13, and I was also a part of the junior leaders program which
meant that I could start helping out with kids classes! I remember not being great at it,
but I stayed dedicated as I got older, and now I am a lead coach! I was offered a job at
Gracie Barra when I was 15, and I haven't looked back! It is the best job I could have asked
    for!

    1. My Family...I am blessed to be married to Coach Nick Barrett! We got married in
2021, and we are excited to see where jiu jitsu will take us in our future careers
together. My immediate family lives in O'Fallon, MO, and we are blessed to visit
    them often.

    2. Off of the Mats...Outside of Jiu Jitsu, I am a Christian. I go to Matthias' Lot
Church which is where I got to officially met my future husband. I am a part-time
personal trainer at Integrity Training Systems. I love helping people feel stronger
and healthier through weight training because it has helped me in so many
different ways! I am also a huge bookworm! I read almost anything, but I would
say my favorite genre is fantasy novels!

    3. Favorite Quote..."I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be
wise as serpents and innocent as doves" ~ Matthew 10:16

    4. What I Enjoy About Teaching...My favorite part about being an instructor is
seeing a student's confidence grow in jiu jitsu and have it translate to other parts
    of their lives.

    5. Fun Fact About Me...A fun fact is that I won the 2017 Jiu Jitsu World
Championship in the Juvenile Blue Belt division!
